Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen left here on Tuesday for Geneva, Switzerland, where he will attend a World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting and a United Nations Human Rights Council session (UNHRC), a senior official said.
In Geneva, Hun Sen will take part in the Global Review of Aid for Trade in 2019 meeting at the WTO on Wednesday, said Sry Thamrong, a minister in the Cambodian Prime Minister’s Office.
“The prime minister will deliver a keynote address at the opening session during which he will highlight Cambodia’s experience, efforts and strategies to overcome challenges and bring about remarkable economic growth to Cambodia,” he said.
Thamarong said Hun Sen will also stress Cambodia’s position against all forms of protectionist trade policies.
He added that the prime minister will also announce the official launching of Cambodia’s Trade Integration Strategy 2019-2023 in his speech.
On Thursday, Hun Sen will deliver a speech at the 41st Regular Session of the Human Rights Council where a clear and important message will be conveyed to express Cambodia’s strong commitment to upholding human rights and democracy in Cambodia, said Thamrong.
Hun Sen’s entourage includes Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance, Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak, and other senior government officials as well as a group of business executives, the official said.
