Canada reports 1,795 new Covid-19 cases

Ottawa: Amid an ongoing second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Canada has reported 1,795 new coronavirus cases and 11 fatalities, which increased the country’s overall infection tally and the death toll to 172,942 and 9,541, respectively, according to health officials.

Wednesday marked the first day in nearly a week that the daily increase was below the 2,000 mark, Global News said in a report.

On Tuesday, Canada reported 2,364 new cases, the highest spike in the number of single-day infections since the pandemic hit the country earlier this year.

A total of 47,613 people have recovered after contracting the virus so far, while 4,212,623 others have been tested.
