New Delhi: The CBI on Saturday said that it has arrested an official of the Eastern Coalfields Limited from Jharkhand’s Godda in a graft case.
Accused Gokul Chandra Saha, posted as Clerk in Rajmahal Open Cast Project in Godda, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 25,000 as first instalment of the bribe he demanded from a complainant, the Central Bureau of Investigation said.
The arrest was made after the CBI filed a case on the basis of a complaint that Saha had demanded a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant for processing a case relating to his appointment on compassionate grounds in Eastern Coalfields Ltd in Godda after his father’s death.
“A CBI team laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting Rs 25,000 as first instalment from the complainant,” a CBI official said, adding that incriminating documents were also seized.
The official said that the accused will be presented before Special CBI Judge in Dhanbad.
