CM meets the state CEO to explain on Kalia scheme issue

Naveen

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday created a flutter by personally visiting the office of the state Chief Electoral Office and apprising the latter about his party’s position on the popular farmer scheme named Kalia which has remained a bone of contention for the BJP. This is the first time that a chief minister made a visit to the CEO’s office to explain his party’s position inorder to ward off the controversial issues over it.

There were allegation from the BJP that the state government is trying to make electoral capital by continuing the benefits to the people through the above scheme. He has made it clear that the Kalia scheme has been already halted.

The BJD’s firm stand on the Kalia yojna is that although the scheme was launched much before the election process started but the EC had allegedly acted against it under pressure from the BJP which could not match the popularity of the scheme.
