Bhubaneswar: Commodore NP Pradeep took over as Commanding Officer of the Indian Navy’s premier Sailors’ training establishment, INS Chilka and Naval Officer-in-Charge (Odisha) from Commodore Rituraj Sahu at a Ceremonial Parade on 26 Jan 21. The officers and sailors of INS Chilka bid farewell to Commodore Rituraj Sahu at a traditional “pulling-out ceremony”, marking the end of his 22 months tenure. He will soon assume Command of INS Netaji Subhas and Naval Officer-in-Charge (West Bengal) at Kolkata.
Commodore NP Pradeep who hails from Vadanamkurussi, Kerala is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (Khadakwasla). The officer was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1992 and is a specialist in Navigation and Direction.
During his 29 years Naval service, Cmde Pradeep has served as Navigating Officer onboard Indian Naval Ships Rajput, Ranjit and Kirpan and as Commanding Officer of Indian Naval Ships Vinash, Kesari and Ganga. Amongst his Staff Appointments, he has served as Squadron Commander at NDA, Joint Director Naval Operations War Room, Director, Net Assessment Cell, MDCC, Command Operations Officer, Southern Naval Command, Captain Workup, Local Workup Team (West and Commodore (Plans), Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command. He has also undertaken a diplomatic assignment at Sri Lanka as Instructor at Naval Maritime Academy, Trincomalee.
