New Delhi: The Congress has denied that there was any discussion on elevation of Rahul Gandhi as party President again in the working committee meet held on Tuesday.
Randeep Surjewala, party chief spokesperson said, “This is a sentiment of each Congress worker but today the discussion was on issues before the nation like the Chinese transgression, fuel price hike and extreme conditions due to the pandemic.”
Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said, “No such discussion took place.”
However sources say Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in the meeting that Rahul Gandhi should become party chief.
Rahul Gandhi had quit the post after the party was decimated in the 2019 general election and last August Sonia Gandhi was made interim President by the CWC.
Rahul Gandhi unfazed with the BJP criticism has launched an onslaught on the Modi government on issue of Chinese transgression and asked several questions from the government.
At the time of his relinquishing the post Rahul Gandhi had blamed senior leaders for not working in tandem with him and infact there were few takers in the party for Rahul’s stand on the Rafale issue against Modi.
