Ranchi: Jharkhand’s total coronavirus cases crossed the 5K-mark to reach 5,100 after more than 300 new cases were detected in 22 of its 24 districts, official data said.
In the last 24 hours, five more deaths were reported — one each in East Singhbhum, Godda, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, and Ramgarh districts, taking the state’s death count to 47.
Health Department data said the state now has 2,473 active cases.
The maximum 61 new cases were reported in Ranchi district, followed by 57 in Chatra, Latehar (42), Garhwa (23), Sahebganj (22), West Singhbhum (16), Bokaro (15)and Giridih (10), among others.
In the last 24 hours, 64 more patients were cured and discharged from dedicated Covid-19 facilities in the state.
Till now, 179 policemen in Jharkhand have been infected with coronavirus, including a Deputy SP and seven Inspectors. Seven policemen have since been cured. In Ranchi, officers in charge of four police stations have been infected.
