Uttar Pradesh government has awarded the country’s biggest floating solar power plant of 150 megawatt at the Rihand dam to be set up by two private players, govt spokesperson and minister Srikant Sharma said here on Tuesday.
The state cabinet approved the proposals and bids of two private companies, ReNew Solar power plant, Gurugram, which will set up 100 megawatt power plant and Shapoorji Pallonji infrastructure company, Mumbai will construct another 50 megawatt plant.
The minister said UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has signed an agreement with these two companies to purchase the generated power at a rate of Rs 3.23 per unit.
Claiming that it would be the country’s biggest floating solar power plant, Mr Sharma said that this project would be completed by next 21 months and there would be no requirement of land for the project as it would be installed on the Rihand dam, he added.
