Deep freeze cold claims 13 lives in US

A dangerous deep freeze which has been blasting the Northeast and Midwest of US For a couple of days, where the record-breaking cold temperature is paralysing cities and communities has so far claimed 13 lives, including three in New York, Local media on Friday reported.

The freezing weather caused by the polar vortex in US expanded to New York State with snowfalls and strong wind gusts.
Two persons were killed while clearing the snow, whereas a man in Livingston County died as his vehicle hit a snowdrift and crashed.
The polar vortex descended on the United States on Tuesday, freezing much of the Midwest and New England region and affecting over 50 million people.
