BJP leader and Union Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said it is a “disgrace” that in the name of free speech – an unauthenticated document and which has been “laughed out” two years back have been brought to the public discourse yet again.
“Look at this so called Yeddyurappa Diary….It is a disgrace for India that free speech by media organisations has been misused to this extent,” said Mr Jaitley in a video message on Twitter.
“Free speech must not be misused by media organisations to pass falsehood and forgery,” he tweeted along with the video message. Mr Jaitley pointed that the so called diary notes or the papers recovered “are not Yedyyurappa’s Diary recovered from him”.
Instead, it was handed over by a tax evader during a raid and paradoxically the Congress leader D K Shivakumar did not confirm or authenticate it either.
He said there was hardly any reason that two years later when this document has been ‘laughed out’, the same papers were used and published to suggest a theory that Mr Yeddyurappa has paid ‘bribes’ to some senior BJP leaders.
This is what is called a ‘caravan from falsehood to forgery’, remarked Mr Jaitley.
In fact, writing on similar vein, Mr Jaitley on Saturday had tweeted saying – there was an ‘experiment with falsehood’ attempted in Godhra train burning case as well.
“Ishrat Jahan case was passed on as a political operation. ‘Caravans’ of modern day falsehood follow such precedents and get ample support from ‘falsehood perpetrators’ from ‘the liars on the wires’ & the digital,” he said.
“The ‘caravan’ of falsehood was ready for a ‘Rahul Bailout’. Falsehood and forgeries can never influence a poll. Just as voters are wiser than politicians, they are also wiser than those who ride on the ‘Caravan’ of falsehood and forgeries,” Finance Minister had tweeted.
