A Durga idol to cost about Rs 17 crore for a community puja

some 50/60 kgs of solid gold, which would cost about Rs 17 crore.
Artisan Mintu Pal has agreed to make the gold plated image, a replica was also displayed during the media briefing at Press Club, Kolkata. The organisers claimed that traditionally their idols of Durga, Laxmi,
Swaraswati, Ganesha and Kartika used to have gold plated crowns, bangles and other ornaments but this year it would be total gold of all the images.
