The election to the adjourned Patkura Assembly Constituency will be held on July 20 next, the Election Commission in a notification issued today in Bhubaneswar said.
As per the notification, the counting of votes will be held on July 24 and the election will be completed before July 26 next. The Commission has decided to use EVMs and VVPATs in the election in all the polling stations.
The model code of conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the district in which the whole or any part of Assembly constituency where election will be held is included .
Initially election to Patkura Assembly constituency was scheduled on April 29 last in fourth phase of General Election to Odisha Legislative Assembly.
The poll date was adjourned to May 19 last after the death of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwal on April 20 last.
Later in the wake of the cyclonic storm FANI, the Election Commission on the proposal of the Chief Electoral Officer ,Odisha, postponed the election to be held after 60 days.
Now the Commission after taking into consideration various factors like festivals, electoral rolls, has decided to hold the adjourned election on July 20 next.
