ECoR to run three special trains to evacuate stranded tourists in Puri in view of Cyclone Fani

The East Coast Railways (ECoR) will run three special train today from Puri to Howrah to help and tourists stranded at Puri and other places due to the cancellation in view of the cyclonic storm Fani advancing towards Puri coast.
ECoR sources said the first will start from Puri towards Shalimar at about 1200 hours and will have stoppages at Khordha road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kharagpur.
The ECoR has already cancelled as many as 103 trains, 54 trains from today from their originating stations and the rest a precautionary measure considering the safety of the passengers.
Met sources said the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani over West-central Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards and lay centred about 430 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha this morning.
It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and cross Odisha Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, around Puri during May 3 afternoon with a maximum sustained wind speed of 170- 180 kmph gusting to 200 kmph.
ECoR sources said two more special trains will run to Howrah from Puri to evacuate tourists and visitors stranded in Puri.
While the first special train will leave Puri by 1200 hours, a special train to Howrah will start at 1500
hours from Puri.
The third special train to Howrah will leave at 1800 hours from Puri.
