It’s no more back to basics as the Supreme court of India had rejected a plea to hold elections through ballot papers rather than EVMs. The plea was made through a petitions in the apex court which sought the directive from the court to hold the Assembly and Lok sabha elections through ballot papers and not EVMs. Which the court rejected.
