Former Biju Janata Dal legislator from Kakatpur Assembly constituency Rabi Mallick today resigned from the primary membership of the party accusing its leadership of sidelining him.
He also resigned from the State Planning Board in which he was a member.
Speaking to the press after he sent his resignation to party chief Naveen Patnaik earlier this morning, Mallick said, “I have been in the party for 25 years and have carried out whatever task that was assigned to me. However, I am being sidelined now. I am not even able to meet the party leadership, which is humiliating. There is no point staying in the party under such circumstances”.
While Mallick did not explicitly make it clear if he plans to join BJP or contest as an independent, his supporters have hinted at Mallick switching to saffron pond.
It may be mentioned here that BJD has fielded Surendra Sethi from Kakatpur Assembly constituency this time.
