Tokyo, Nov 29 Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone has died at the age of 101, local media reported on Friday.
Nakasone served as prime minister from November 1982 to November 1987.
He worked to privatize Japan’s national railway. On the diplomatic front, he is known for his close relationship with former US President Ronald Reagan during the 1980s.
Nakasone was born in Takasaki City in Gunma Prefecture in 1918. He entered politics in 1947, winning a seat in Japan’s Lowe House of the Diet. He held the seat for 20 consecutive elections.
