Former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Devegowda advised the Union government to take immediate measure to bring normalcy in the Jammu and Kashmir after abrogating the Article-370 and 35-A in the troubled State.
Speaking to newsmen after unfurling national flag at the JD(S) headquarter here on Thursday, Gowda said that “there is an atmosphere of uncertainty in Kashmir following the recent decision of the Union Government”.
Advising the Union government to take measures to ease the restrictions and return normalcy in Kashmir, he said “the present situation in Kashmir should not be allowed to continue”.
He also suggested the union government to release all those who were detained after abrogation of the special status given to the people of Kashmir under the constitution.
The former Prime Minister criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not announcing any financial assistance to Karnataka State which witnessed a widespread destruction due to incessant rains and floods.
“The Prime Minister’s silence on the issue is appalling. I am also ready to lead a delegation and meet the Prime Minister seeking more funds for the state”.
