Former union minister Mohammed Ashraf Fatmi resigns from RJD

After resigning from all party posts, senior RJD leader and former union minister Mohammed Ali Ashraf Famti today resigned from the primary membership of his party following denial of party ticket to contest election in the Lok Sabha poll.

Fatmi told newspersons here that the RJD leadership had assured him first to give ticket from Darbhanga and subsequently from Madhubani but he was denied ticket. He said that after resigning from all party posts yesterday, he was waiting for a party decision in his favour following his long service to the party.

“When my hope was completely dashed, I ultimately resigned from the primary membership of my party,’ he said that he as a rebel party candidate would now contest election from Madhubani and file his nomination as an Independent candidate.

The former union minister said he was expecting that RJD would field him from Darbhanga but when it did not happen, the party by taking him into confidence told him that he would get ticket from Madhubani. He said that he along with his supporters had even started campaigning in Madhubani constituency but Madhubani seat went to Vikasshil Insan Party of Mukesh Sahni in seat sharing deal among grand alliance`s allies.  VIP has fielded former RJD leader Badrinath Purve from Madhubani constituency.
