Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be sworn in as the new President of Sri Lanka on Monday in Anuradhapura after he won the Saturday’s presidential polls.
Rajapaksa, a former defence minister, secured over 6 million or over 52 per cent of the votes in the elections, defeating his main rival and government minister Sajith Premadasa by a margin of 13 lakh votes.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, Party’s Chairman professor G.L. Peiris, it’s National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa, party leaders of the Opposition, MPs and others will attend the ceremony today.
