Guilty deserve most severe punishment under law, Omar on Kathua rape case

Reacting to Pathankot court verdict on Kathua rape case convicting six of the seven accused, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the guilty deserved the most severe punishment possible under law.

Without naming the two former BJP ministers who had to resign after they participated in a rally at Kathua demanding release of all accused in the rape and murder case of eight-year-old girl in January last year, Mr Abdullah said for the politicians, who defended the accused, vilified the victims and threatened the legal system, no words of condemnation are enough.

Taking to Twitter, Mr Abdullah ,the vice-president of the National Conference (NC),said, ‘Amen to that. The guilty deserve the most severe punishment possible under law. And to those politicians who defended the accused, vilified the victim & threatened the legal system no words of condemnation are enough’.
