HC extends Rajiv case life convict Nalini’s parole by three weeks

The Madras High Court on Thursday extended by three weeks, parole granted to S Nalini (52) one of the seven life convicts in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Passing orders on a plea by her, seeking one month extension of her parole to complete arrangements for her daughter’s marriage, a Division Bench comprising Justice M M Sundresh and Justice M Nirmal Kumar extended her parole by three weeks.

Nalini moved the court after the Vellore prison authorities refused her request for extension of parole by a month. In her plea, she said despite her best efforts all arrangements for her daughter’s marriage could not be completed.

She said she needed one more month to complete the wedding arrangements. Stating that her daughter was residing in London with her husband Murugan alias Sriharan’s brother, Nalini said they were likely to visit India in the first week of next month.

She said after their arrival, she needed time to make arrangements for the marriage and prayed for extending the parole by one more month.
