New Delhi: The Hindu mahasabha has demanded sedition cases be slapped against the Shaheen Bagh protestors in Delhi.
The outfit which has been upping the ante against the Shaheen Bagh protest, even alleging that government should probe possible Pakistan hand behind the agitation, on Wednesday took it further.
“They are so inconsiderate. They are Indians but are demanding citizenship for Pakistani Muslims. And the government and the administration are standing as a mute spectator in their support,” said Swami Chakrapani, the all India president of the outfit. He demanded the government to slap sedition cases against all protestors.
The protestors of Shaheen Bagh, a minority-dominated area, have been sitting on roads, blocking traffic for more than a month now against the Citizenship Amendment Act and nationwide NRC.
This is not the first time that Hindu Mahasabha has demanded action against the protestors. On January 18, Chakrapani called Shaheen Bagh, the anti-national version of Jallianwala Bagh”.
Speaking to IANS, Swami Chakrapani had alleged, “Jallianwala Bagh was a congregation for a nationalist cause where patriotic slogans were raised. In constrast, in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, protesters are raising anti-India slogans and Hindu-phobic posters. No wonder, this is the anti-national version of Jallianwala Bagh.”
The Delhi High Court has already told the authorities to do whatever they deem fit in the “larger public interest”. But so far Delhi Police have been restrained in their approach and issued appeals to end the stir.
