In a shocking incident, a mother-daughter duo received grievous injuries after villagers thrash them out of their village for allegedly practicing witch craft.
According to sources, the mother Juhimihinga Darlong(32), was taken hostage for more than a week in the Darlongbasti habitat of Old Saikarbari, for practicing black magic on an aged man, who had allegedly fallen sick due to this. The villager demanded her to cure the old man. Failing to do so the villagers beat the mother black and blue along with her minor daughter Remrati Darling (13) in the Darlongbasti and drove them out of the village.
Since then both of them are under treatment at Kamalpur sub-divisional hospital.
Juhimihinga claimed, a section of villagers plotted the entire incident to grab her large tracts of rubber plantation and Tilla land. Meanwhile, Science and Rationalist Association of India and Tripura Human Rights Organization (THRO) condemned the incident and demanded an immediate probe into the incident.
