Jharkhand liquor shops open, prices up by 25 pc

Ranchi: Liquor prices have gone up to 25 per cent as vends reopened in Jharkhand on Wednesday for the first time after the lockdown was imposed in the state.

Tipplers were seen queuing outside liquor shops, despite an additional 25 per cent Value Added Tax imposed on liquor by the state government.

The liquor is being sold through shops, home delivery and e-token. The state has been divided in three zones for sale of liquor — nine cities, 15 towns, and rural areas.

Home-delivery of liquor will be done through Swiggy and Zomato apps. The customers will pay the delivery charge. The buyer too should be aged 21.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus cases in the state increased to 249.

Grocery and book stores opened on Tuesday in the state.
