Bhubaneswar : In a bid to offer relief this winter to the poor, leading steel maker JSW Steel distributed blankets to over hundred underprivileged people in the villages of Dalita and Gidei under Malda Panchayat in Koira Block, Sundergarh district, this week.
This CSR intervention is by JSW under its CSR arm JSW Foundation, to improve the lives of people in the periphery villages of its Mines at Joda-Koira sector. This timely move was well received by villagers
suffering from severe winter conditions at Koira, and in addition, offered protection to the poor during the COVID third wave.
Dilip Munda, a resident of the village, recipient of the winter blanket, said “This time Koira is one of the coldest Blocks in Odisha and to top it, Omicron fear has gripped everyone. Thanks to JSW, this blanket
has come as a timely relief.” Ramya Munda, another recipient thanked the company officials profusely and expressed his gratitude for the initiative.
This initiative was undertaken as a part of Company’s CSR initiative in conjunction with the Block development Office, Koira. R Kumudial, Block Chairman, Koira, donated the blankets in the presence of
JSW CSR team. Earlier, Block Development officer had raised a request to distribute blankets in the villages under JSW Steel CSR purview.
Within a short span, JSW Steel has touched the lives of many through its well-designed CSR programme at the Mines area. The key focus area of intervention, are mainly public heath, especially water &
sanitation measures; education and livelihood to improve the quality of life for the inhabitants in the periphery.
