Kashmiris being used to score political points by national parties: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Jan 15 (UNI) Questioning the timing of filing charge-sheet in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) case, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said Kashmiris are being used to score extra political points by the national parties.
The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, who headed a coalition government with BJP till June last year, said she was not surprised by filing of chargesheet in JNU case as general elections in the country are only months away.
She alleged that 2019 elections, like always, Kashmiris are being used to score extra political points with the Indian electorate. However, she wondered how many more Kashmiris alongwith their families will have to pay price to secure the political fortune of national parties.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mehbooba, who resigned after BJP pulled out from her government said, ”No surprises here. We are months away from the 2019 General Elections and like always, using Kashmiris to score extra political points with the Indian electorate has become somewhat of a pre-requisite”.
She further said, “Timing of the chargesheet couldn’t be any more suspicious. When UPA was in power, it decided to send Afzal Guru to the gallows and to this day J&K is paying a price”.
“Wonder how many more Kashmiris along with their families will have to pay a price to secure the political fortunes of national parties”.
Sedition chargesheet was on Monday filed in a Delhi court against former president of JNU Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and seven Kashmiris.
