LS Secretariat housekeeper tests Covid-19 positive

New Delhi: A senior housekeeper working with the Lok Sabha Secretariat has tested Covid-19 positive and been admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital, here on Tuesday.

A resident of Kalibari area in central Delhi, the 58-year-old employee was admitted to a special ward in the hospital at 10.30 a.m. after his report was found positive on Monday, K.P. Balyan, Deputy Director (Welfare), Lok Sabha Secretariat, told IANS.

Balyan said the infected employee had not attended the office for the last 35 days. “He had stopped coming four-five days before the lockdown was imposed,” Balyan said.

“He had visited the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital some 12 days ago following chest pain. Last Friday, he complained of fever, cough and breathing problems. He was tested for the Covid-19,” Balyan said.

Eleven members of his family, including three sons, have also been tested for coronavirus. The results are awaited. “All his family members has been home quarantined,” Balyan said.

Coronavirus has claimed 590 lives and infected over 14,500 across the country.
