West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday underscored the need for working together to save the environment to build a better planet for future generations. Taking to her Twitter handle on the occasion of International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer today, Ms Banerjee said, ” Today is International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. We all must work together to save the environment. ”
” We must build a better planet for our future generations, ” she added. In 1994, the UN General Assembly proclaimed September 16 as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date of the signing in 1987, of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the ozone layer.
