West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today strongly criticised the procedural method by which former union finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI in New Delhi.
Banerjee, who also states ruling Trinamool Congress chairperson,said the democracy in the country was in danger.” You must be aware that Chidambaram Ji was former FM and home minister of the country and is a senior Congress leader. I am not
commenting anything on the judicial matter but the way his arrestwas made the procedure was not correct,” Banerjee told reporters,
Chidambaram spent a night in the CBI guest house on the ground floor of the agency headquarters after his dramatic arrest from his posh residence in the INX Media corruption case. Chidambaram, 73, was kept in suite 5 of the guest house. (UNI)
