It was in 2000 that the groundsmen were awarded the man of the match award on Dec.12.2000 for their ability to make the test match between N Zealand and South Africa in the rain affected ground. It were Groundsman Chris Scot and his staff as they had assured that the 190.5 overs of play were possible despite the first , third and fourth days’ play abandoned due to rain.
