Man who died in Bhadrak was the result of the coldblooded onlookers’ smartphone rage

The young man who died on a road in Bhadrak district, perhaps, could have been saved if a bunch of onlookers had not remained busy taking pictures of the injured man wreathing in pain and almost battled his last against the death.

The trend of clicking selfies and pictures of accidents have become a rage and the menaces of such habits have shown themselves by the death of the youth on NH 16 in Bhadrak district.

The only thing that comes to mind is, is humanity vanishing! Seeing what happened in that accident, in which an injured man was begging all there to save his life, all those final whispers of appeal were only vanished into the smartphones.

What those onlookers message out is, that, who says humans are made to live in the society and help each other. But, that was perhaps a bunch of insensible people and can be otherwise described as the inscrutable slaves of a device.

There had been many such occasions when, either shutterbugs or videographers from the media also indulge in acts of recording incidents when someone requires a helping hand more than the news.

When a man had carried his dead wife, bundled in a rag, on his shoulders, it is not that the plight did not deserve a media highlight but, the other moot question is, out of the over 10-12 people, including from the media, were busy recording the scene, some of them could have volunteer to help that man in transporting the body to its destination also.

Which could have been more of a Samaritan act than merely  demonstrating professional intrepidity .

There have been several such occasions when either an ailing person or a pregnant woman carried on shoulders or a sling, from somewhere media makes it to the spot restricting its role to only recording .

Role of a journalist and their role as a man of the society, surely are not separated by any water-tight compartmentalization. It can be in sync with the situation that needs both, highlight and help.

The vehicle that hit the man and his co-rider was highly culpable but what about the onlookers who were deliberately cruel to the man lying on the road.
