New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hit out at both the BJP and the AAP during his third public meeting ahead of the February 8 Assembly elections in Delhi, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were least bothered about providing employment to the the youth and were only using their anger to grab power.
He also accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not wiping out corruption from the country, saying the two parties were spreading hatred and violence in the name of nationalism.
Addressing a public rally in Kondli Assembly constituency for Congress candidate Amrish Gautam, Rahul Gandhi said, “The atmosphere in India has changed in the last five years. Brotherhood and peace have vanished from the society. What is the reason for this? Many of you will say that this happened due to Modi, the RSS and the BJP.
“But I will put things in a little different manner. The biggest reason is not taking the youth forward. People are scared due to unemployment. And if the youth and the new generation cannot find a way, they will get angry. That anger is being misused by Modi. The real reason is unemployment,” he said.
Slamming the BJP government at the Centre and the AAP government in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said, “The youth are roaming around on the streets and getting angry due to unemployment. And their anger is being misused by Modi and Kejriwal.”
He alleged that both Kejriwal and Modi remained silent on the issue of unemployment. “Their politics is of hatred and if they provide employment to you, then their politics will end,” he said.
Training his guns at the Prime Minister and Delhi Chief Minister, the Congress leader said, “Kejriwal and Modi had said that they will wipe out corruption. Did corruption end? Entire India knows that corruption has not been wiped out, but in fact it has only increased.”
He further said that a new fashion of nationalism has emerged across the country. Both Modi and Kejriwal were teaching patriotism, but no one needed to do so as everyone is a patriot in India, he said.
“These are all ways to divide, understand this,” he appealed to the people.
Rahul Gandhi also highlighted the works of the UPA government and said that the Congress government had waived off farm loans to the tune of Rs 72,000 crore within 10 to 15 days of its announcement.
Hitting out at Modi and Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi said, “You people need to understand that they (Modi and Kejriwal) only want to divide india.”
The Congress MP from Kerala’s Wayanad also said that the entire world wanted to invest in India and give employment to the youth. “But they are questioning as to where is the India where peace, brotherhood and love prevailed. They dont want to invest in India which is now known for hatred.”
He further said that earlier “Pakistan was a symbol of violence and hatred”.
“Now it is also visible in India. And it is the loss of India and the youth of the country,” he said, adding that the hatred which has spread across the country is helping Modi, and not benefiting the people of the country.
The Congress, which ruled the national capital for 15 years from 1998 to 2013, was reduced to zero seats in the 2015 Assembly elections. The grand old party is looking for a revival in the Assembly polls scheduled on February 8. Counting of votes will take place on February 11.
