A three days monsoon session of Tripura assembly began here on Friday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that government doesn’t have business to hold long session despite serious efforts. As many as six bills including introduction of introducing Essential Services Maintenance Bill 2019 and amendment bill of salaries and other allowances of MLAs and ministers will be tabled in the session for discussion.
Nath said a few important public interest issues like ongoing debate for ‘one nation one election’ might be discussed. Apart from that the members have also wanted to discuss on the predicament of 10,323 govt school teachers whose service would be terminated after next March in the assembly. Meanwhile, opposition members alleged despite having several matters of urgent public interest, the state government did not agree to increase the time in business advisory meeting held early this week.
They alleged that there has been a complete anarchy, lawless situation and vendetta politics continuing in the state under BJP-IPFT rule but the ruling party did not want to discuss those in the assembly. “There is no job, employment opportunity and pro-people social welfare scheme now in the state. People are frustrated for non-implementation of the poll promises of BJP.
The freedom and personal liberty of the citizens have been snatched away by the government and innocent people were trapped in false cases by the government,” alleged senior CPI (M) MLA Tapan Chakraborty. (UNI)
