In a bid to take on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desham Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu is shifting the protest to the national capital.
Naidu, who is at feud with Modi after the Centre rejected the demand of granting Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, will do a Dharma Porata Deeksha (A day long protest for Justice) at Andhra Bhavan in Delhi on Monday 2000 AM to 2000 PM, against the NDA government.
Before starting his one day ‘deeksha’, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister will visit Rajghat in the morning and will pay tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar Statue at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan.
According to his office, Andhra Pradesh Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, employee associations, social and student organisations will attend the fast along with Naidu.
A delegation headed by Naidu will also meet President Ramnath Kovind on February 12.
Naidu is a vocal critic of Modi after he quit NDA on the promises made in the AP re-organisation act, protesting against the Centre since then.
He was at forefront to unite the opposition parties at national level against the BJP government and has been frequently visiting national capital.
However, in a scathing attack, Prime Minister Modi on Sunday criticised Mr Naidu and said the Andhra Chief Minister is busy promoting his son and did not do anything for the development of the state.
Mocking Mr Naidu for his statement that he was senior to Mr Modi, the Prime Minister said “he is senior in switching parties, he is a senior in backstabbing his father in law NT Rama Rao, he is senior in losing election after election”.
