Quite like the 2014 elections, BJD chief Naveen Patnaik has this time also targeted the Union Government for its lackadaisical approach towards the state and came down heavily on the central leaders stating that they only visit during the elections.
Attending a public meeting in Nabarangpur, the BJD supremo said that these leaders did not bother to visit the state when cyclonic storm Phailin, Hudhud and Titili devastated the state but now shedding crocodile tears.
Patnaik has this time safely played the women reservation card by projecting 33 per cent reservation for women candidates in Lok sabha elections. The party had nominated seven new women faces from among the 21 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
In a bid to check the growing popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJD chief has slammed him asking where are the 10 crore jobs, that he promised in 2014 to create at least 2 crore job every year.
Modi, he said had not fulfilled any of his promises made during 2014 elections. The centre, during his last five years tenure, had not cooperated with the state in handling the natural calamities.
Patnaik even attacked the centre for blocking the funds under the Kalia scheme, launched by his government for the welfare of the farmers, share croppers and landless agricultural labourers in the state. (with inputs from UNI)
