New CM of Delhi: BJP’s first-time MLA Rekha Gupta was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi at the iconic Ramlila Maidan this afternoon. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ms. Gupta. Alongside her, six Cabinet Ministers – Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh – also took the oath.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several Union Ministers. Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from various states were also present at the grand event.

With this, Rekha Gupta became the fourth woman Chief Minister and the second woman BJP Chief Minister of Delhi. She was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in a meeting held in the national capital last evening. Following this, Ms. Gupta met Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena at Raj Niwas and formally staked her claim to form the new government, which was duly accepted.

Speaking to the media ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Rekha Gupta expressed her gratitude to the party’s top leadership for entrusting her with this responsibility. She pledged to work with honesty, integrity, and dedication for the welfare and development of the people of Delhi.

Ms. Gupta secured victory from the Shalimar Bagh seat in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections. Her political journey began with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University, in 1992. She later became the President of the Delhi University Students’ Union in 1996 and has also served as the General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi.
