Nor’wester to bring relief from heat wave in Odisha

Regional Meteorological Center in Bhubaneswar today predicted that nor’wester rain in several districts of the state will stall the progress of the heat wave here.

Rains along with thunderstorm will likely occur at several places of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri districts starting today. The conditions are likely to prevail for next five days. Rest of districts, however, are likely to remain dry.

According to the weather bulletin issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over districts like Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on March 29. Similar condition is likely to prevail in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudha, Nayagarh, Balasore, Khordha and Ganjam districts the next day.

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty wind in many coastal and interior south Odisha districts such as Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal , Boudha, Sonepur and Khodha are also likely on March 31, said the bulletin.

Similar condition will prevail over Keonjhar, Myurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam and Rayagada districts on April 1.
