Veteran actor and theatre artist Dinyar Contractor passed away in the wee hours of Wednesday.
He was 79. The Padma Shri awardee had been suffering from various age-related illnesses.He started acting at school and began his professional career in 1966. He became a household name with TV shows like Khichdi, Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar, Hum Sab Ek Hain, Aaj Ke Shrimaan Shrimati. He acted in Gujarati theatre and Hindi theatre, as well as Hindi movies including ‘Bazigar’, ’36 China Town’, ‘Badshaah’ and ‘Khiladi’.
His last rites will be performed later in the day.
