Over one lakh students to become messenger of cleanliness  under “Mu Safaiwala”Programme in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov11 (UNI) Over one lakh students will take pledge to be messengers of cleanliness   in the “Mu Safaiwala” Programme by November 16 next. Chief Minister Naveen Patanaik inaugurated the “Mu Safaiwala” Programme on October 2 last on the 150th birthday of the Father of the Nation and dedicated it to the citizens of the capital city.

The pledges under the “Mu Safaiwala” campaign, which will  continue for 90 days, is to make people aware  not to use polythene, use of own bags for day-to-day life and stop using single use plastic to make  the environment cleaner, healthier and a better place in the  planet to live in. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, the largest civic body  of the state has targeted to cover 194 schools including 134 private schools and 60 government schools under the programme.

Under the programme a student can be a ”Mu Safaiwala” if he/she secures 80 out of 100 marks of the questions distributed by the BMC. The campaign is designed to be executed in three phases starting from October 2 last and will last for 90 days up till January 3, 2020.
