Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today greeted Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee and his wife Esther Duflo
for winning the 2019 Nobel prize for Economics and recalled the MoU signed by the State government with the J-Pal organisation, in which they were Directors.
In a statement here, Mr Palaniswami greeted the couple on his own behalf and on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu for winning the Nobel prize. ”I extend my heartiest greetings to Abhijit Banerjee and his wife Esther Duflo for winning the 2019 Nobel Economics prize,” he added. Recalling the MoU signed with J-Pal, Mr Palaniswami said so far, 15 researches
had been carried out in seven departments as part of the agreement and the government was implementing various welfare schemes for the people in consultation with them and other economists. (UNI)
