The renowned film Director, Lyricist, Screen Writer, Producer, Poet and author Gulzar is visiting University of Jammu to attend ‘Jashn-e-Gulzar’ event being organised as part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations from March 12 to 14.
He has been invited by Department of Urdu in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu.
Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to Governor, J&K will preside over the function in presence of Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu.
The programme also includes Urdu ‘Mushaira’ in which Gulzar and other poets of the state will entertain the audience by their poetry.
Later a Sham-e-Ghazal will be organised in which renowned ghazal singers of the state will present the ghazals of Gulzar. The Department of Urdu is also organising an International Seminar on March 13, on the “Life and works of Gulzar”, in which renowned Urdu and Punjabi short story writer Khalid Hussain, Dr Asif Malik, Dr Farhat Shamim and Dr Shenaz Qadri will present their papers on the life and art of Gulzar, in presence of Gulzar.
Later a question answer session will also be organised in which the audience would ask various questions to Gulzar regarding his career and life.
The valedictory function of Jashn-e-Gulzar will be held on March 14.
