Mayawati’s personal attacks on PM expose her as unfit for public life: Jaitley

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) In a strong condemnation of Bahujan Samaj party chief Mayawati accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘abandoning’ wife for ‘political selfishness’, senior BJP leader and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said the BSP chief’s personal attack on the PM exposes her as unfit for public life’.
In a series of tweets, Mr Jaitley, in an attack on opposition parties, charged West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee of killing Democracy in her state.
Attacking Mayawati for her remarks against the PM, Jaitley said,’’ Behan Mayawati – She is firm on becoming a Prime Minister. Her governance, ethics and discourse stoops to an all-time low. Her personal attack today on the Prime Minister exposes her as unfit for public life.’’
Attacking All India Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata banerjee for disallowing BJP chief Amit Shah’s rally in the state, Mr Jaitley said,’’ Mamata Didi – Democracy has become a casualty in Bengal. Opposition workers are murdered, candidates are attacked, polling booths are captured and Opposition leaders are not entitled to organise rallies.’’
‘’This is what India’s Opposition has to offer to the Nation. Why have the so called ‘Left Liberals’ gone into hiding?,’’Jaitley tweeted.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Ms Mayawati mounted a scathing personal attack on the Prime Minister saying that he could not be expected to respect other’s sisters and wives when he had left his own wife for political gains.
Speaking at the press meet, Mayawati said she had come to know that married women in BJP were apprehensive of letting their husbands go close to Modi, as they feared he might separate them like he ‘abandoned’ his wife.
Mayawati asked how a man, who had abandoned his wife for “political selfishness”, be expected to respect women.
