Lashing out at BJP for giving ‘protection of political power’ to Kuldeep Sengar, the BJP MLA, who is accused of raping a girl in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “divest this criminal (Sengar) and his brother of the political power your party is giving them”, two days after the girl’s car collided with a truck, in which she was critically injured and two of her aunts were killed.
“For God’s sake, Mr. Prime Minister, divest this criminal and his brother of the political power your party is giving them. Its still not too late”, Priyanka tweeted.
On Sunday the Congress general secretary had alleged that the BJP is protecting the MLA and demanded to sack him from the party.
“What is the BJP waiting for? Why has this man not been expelled from their party even when his name is in the latest FIR in the Unnao Rape Case?”, she had tweeted.
The girl, who accused Sengar of raping her two years ago, was critically injured and two of her family members were killed on Sunday near Raebareli after a truck collided with their car.
“Why do we give people like Kuldeep Sengar the strength and protection of political power and abandon their victims to battle for their lives alone?” Priyanka charged.
Uttar Pradesh police on Monday filed an FIR against Sengar, his brother and eight others in connection with Unnao rape case survivor’s accident.
