Curfew-like restrictions imposed to prevent protests after Friday prayers in the downtown, Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and parts of civil lines in Srinagar were lifted though business and other activities remained crippled for the 34th day on Saturday. However, all gates of historic Jamia Masjid, stronghold of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, remained closed since August 5. Security forces remained deployed in the Jamia market and adjoining areas to prevent people from entering the masjid. Restrictions have been lifted and all road blocks removed in the downtown and SeK though large number of security forces remained deployed to maintain law and order. Business and other activities remained crippled. Security forces have also lifted restrictions on roads leading to Maisuma in the civil lines. (UNI)
