RPF personnel seize 550 pigeons transported illegally in train, one detained

Railway Protection Force (RPF) of East Coast Railway(ECoR) has seized 550 pigeons being transported illegally in train and detained a drug Kingpin from Dhenkanal area.

ECoR sources here said RPF Post of Balangir has seized seven baskets containing 550 pigeons from the general compartment of Howrah-Jagadalpur Samaleswari Express which were not booked and detained a person in this connection.

The pigeons as well as persons transporting them have been handed over to Forest Department at Balangir for further course of action. In another case, RPF during a joint raid with Crime Intelligence Branch of RPF at Khurda Road seized about 160KG of Ganja worth Rs 80,000 approximately from a shop at Kunjakanta at Dhenkanal and arrested one person in this connection.

On August 11 last three gangmen on duty were injured after some people threw gunny bags containing ganja from running Howrah-Sambalpur Express near Dhenkanal. Acting on information, the RPF team raided a shop at Refugee Colony at Kunjakanta near Dhenkanal and arrested the key person who was carrying the said gunny bags of contraband goods.

The arrested person is the mastermind of the illegal transportation of contraband items who was running these activities with the help of his younger brother. RPF has forwarded the person to SDJM, Dhenkanal for further action. (UNI)
