SC Day 16: Temple was always present at disputed site, contends Hindu Mahasabha

Hindu Mahasabha, on Friday, submitted to a Supreme Court five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, that the question of whether a Ram temple was present or not at the disputed site at Ayodhya had never arisen.

“Whether a Hindu temple was present at the disputed site or not was never questioned. The temple was there always at the disputed site,” argued Hari Shankar Jain, lawyer for the Mahasabha, as the Hindu sides today completed their arguments in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, in the spotlight and intense media glare of the nation.

The apex court is hearing a batch of appeals against the September 2010 Allahabad High Court trifurcation of the disputed 2.77 acres of land at Ayodhya. (UNI)
