Scindia induction: BJP's Prabhat Jha trashes reports

New Delhi: The BJP’s outgoing Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha rubbished media reports of him being upset with former congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia’s entry in BJP, calling them “baseless”. Jha is a senior BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh.

The National Vice President of BJP took to Twitter to clarify, “I have nothing to do with meaningless and baseless news. I condemn this mischievous news. No one can challenge my sincerity, ethics and party loyalty.”

Madhya Pradesh BJP’s media in-charge Lokendra Parashar also said, “The rumour regarding the resignation of BJP vice President Prabhat Jha is baseless and unsubstantiated.”

As soon as the BJP released its first list of Rajya Sabha candidates, which has Jyotiraditya Scindia’s name from Madhya Pradesh, Jha once again took to Twitter to praise how Scindia took a stand on abrogation of Article 370 which was “in the national interest”.

Earlier, some reports hinted that Jha has expressed his displeasure to the party leadership. Reports also cited how during the Lok Sabha elections last year, Prabhat Jha looked completely isolated and stayed away from campaigning or strategizing. The reports also quoted a July 14, 2019 tweet of Jha where he tagged PM Modi, Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda and Shivraj Singh Chauhan to say, “One should not play with one’s respect. Tomorrow it can also happen to you.”

However, BJP sources say, while Jha was genuinely upset during the Lok Sabha election, he is definitely not this time around. “If he could tweet his frustration then, so can he now. The fact that he clarified that some media reports suggesting he is upset is baseless shows they are indeed baseless,” said a BJP functionary who was present at Scindia’s induction into the party on Wednesday.
