Scrapping of Article 370 in J&K will become milestone in history of nation: Javadekar

Hailing the government move on Kashmir, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Monday scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir will become a milestone in the history of the nation to usher in massive development in the State.

‘People of Kashmir want better education, development and peace in the State; Scrapping of Article 370 in J&K will become a milestone in the history of the nation to usher in massive development in the State,’ Mr Javadekar said in a tweet. He stressed that the Modi Government wants to give Kashmiris all opportunities of development at par with other parts of India.

‘Kashmiri brothers & sisters were not getting many benefits which are there in other parts of the country due to article 370; Narendra Modi Govt wants to give Kashmiris all opportunities of development at par with other parts of India,’ he said. In a major Constitutional step, a statutory resolution for removal of Article 370 which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was approved in the Rajya Sabha. The House also gave its nod to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 bifurcating the State.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Ladakh will get status of Union Territory without Legislature while the “existing state of Jammu and Kashmir will be a separate Union Territory” with an Assembly. (UNI)
