Sensex ends at record closing high at 40,301.96; up 136.93 pts

Mumbai, Nov 4 (UNI)  Extending gaining streak for the seventh straight session in a row, the BSE Sensex on Monday advanced by 136.93 points to 40,301.96, record closing high on brisk buying in  Materials, IT, Telecom, Metal and Technology stocks. Encouraging September quarter results, along with optimism over US-China trade deal too boosted the investors sentiments.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 54.55 points to 11,945.15. The equity market remained in green throughout the day. The day opened on a strong note at 40,293.85, up by 128 points. It spurted by 318 points to 40,483.21, day high before closing at 40,301.96, advancing by 136.93 points from its last close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,989.15 and 11,905.35 respectively.The sectoral indices like Materials, Finance, IT, Telecom, Metal and Technology kept the market firm however, selling in Realty, Consumer Durable, Auto and FMCG capped from further gain, broket informed.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1428 shares rose and 1153 shares fell. A total of 174 shares were unchanged. In Nifty 50 index, 27 stocks advanced and 23 stocks declined.Asian shares surged on Monday, with a broad regional gauge hitting more than 14-week highs.Growing optimism over US-China trade talks also boosted global investors’ appetite for riskier assets.
