The BSE Sensex on Wednesday advanced by 220.12 points at 38,453.53 as buying was seen across the board.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 51 points to 11,534.25.
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 38,475.93 and 38,319.64 respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 11,456.20 and 11,500.30 points respectively.
The sectoral indices inlcude Bankex, Realty, Utilities, Industrials kept the market up in opening trade.
The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 4.13 pc to Rs 1786.25, Yes Bank by 3.90 pc to Rs 263.60, Bajaj Finance by 1.93 pc to Rs 2987 and SBI by 1.88 pc to Rs 309.
The losers were NTPC by 0.46 pc to Rs 139.45, M & M by 0.43 pc to Rs 666.35, Asian Paints by 0.39 pc to Rs 1478.60 and Coal India by 0.32 pc to Rs 235.85. (UNI)
